The Head of the Civil Service of the Federation (HoCSF), Mrs Didi Esther Walson-Jack, has praised federal civil servants for their resilience and unwavering service to the nation, describing them as central to Nigeria’s national development.

In her Workers’ Day message issued on Friday, Walson-Jack acknowledged the long hours and personal sacrifices made by officers across the service, noting that their professionalism keeps government operations running and essential services reaching citizens.

“Every day, you sustain government operations and ensure that essential services reach Nigerians. Through policy design and implementation, administration, finance, education, healthcare, security coordination, infrastructure support, regulatory oversight, and citizen engagement, you remain central to national development,” she said.

The HoCSF observed a clear shift toward modernisation within the service, citing the growing embrace of innovation, digitalisation, performance management, and continuous learning.

She stated that this momentum is steadily transforming the Federal Civil Service into a more efficient, responsive, and citizen-centred institution.

Walson-Jack also delivered special commendation to President Bola Tinubu for what she called unprecedented attention to the welfare of civil servants under the Renewed Hope Agenda.

She highlighted the approval of the landmark Exit Benefit Scheme for retiring officers under the Contributory Pension Scheme, the operationalisation of the Employee Compensation Scheme for work-related injuries, an upward review of allowances including Duty Tour Allowances, Estacode, and Book Allowance, as well as the ₦10 billion Housing Loan Scheme for civil servants.

“These are practical demonstrations of a leadership that values and cares deeply about the workforce. These interventions have strengthened welfare, boosted morale, and significantly increased commitment, productivity, and service delivery,” she added.

While appreciating the government’s continued investment, the HoCSF charged every civil servant to respond with seriousness, discipline, and results.

“This is not the time for complacency. It is the time to deliver. I expect greater professionalism, higher productivity, stronger accountability, and visible impact in all areas of service delivery. We must match the government’s investment with performance and integrity,” she said.

She encouraged officers to deepen professionalism, strengthen collaboration, embrace innovation, and remain diligent in building a stronger and more prosperous Nigeria.

“To every Civil Servant across the country, thank you for your service and sacrifice. You are valued. You are appreciated. And you remain essential to national progress,” Walson-Jack said.
