The Oyo State Commissioner of Police, Abimbola Olugbenga, has extended warm felicitations to all workers and the good people of Oyo State on the occasion of the commemoration of Workers’ Day 2026.
In his goodwill message, the commissioner saluted the courage, resilience, and ingenuity of Oyo State workers, noting that their unwavering dedication continues to drive the socio-economic growth and development of the State.
He emphasized that the commitment and professionalism demonstrated by workers across all sectors remain vital to sustaining peace, stability, and progress in Oyo State.
In recognition of these contributions, Olugbenga particularly commended the gallant officers and men of the Nigeria Police Force, alongside other security agencies, for their sacrifice and steadfastness in ensuring the safety of lives and property.
He also acknowledged the immense efforts of health workers, teachers, artisans, traders, farmers, transporters, journalists, civil servants, and members of organized labour unions, describing them as indispensable partners in nation-building.
Against this backdrop, the commissioner assured that the Command would continue to uphold its constitutional mandate of protecting lives and property across the State.
He reaffirmed his unwavering commitment to effective service delivery in line with the vision and mission of the 23rd Inspector-General of Police, Olatunji Rilwan Disu, emphasizing that sustained efforts are being made to ensure a safer, more secure, and conducive environment for all residents and workers in Oyo State to live and thrive.
Furthermore, in strengthening internal accountability and professionalism within the Force, the commissioner stated that officers who perform outstandingly well in the discharge of their duties will be duly recognized and rewarded for their exemplary conduct.
Conversely, any officer who acts contrary to the law and established rules will be decisively dealt with in accordance with appropriate disciplinary measures and relevant sections of the law.
In addition, the commissioner reassured residents that the Oyo State Police Command will continue to intensify efforts towards maintaining law and order through proactive and intelligence-led policing strategies, noting that a safe and secure environment remains fundamental to enabling workers and businesses to thrive.
Consequently, while congratulating workers on this year’s celebration, Olugbenga urged all residents to remain law-abiding, vigilant, and supportive of security agencies by providing timely and credible information that will aid in crime prevention and detection.
He further encouraged citizens to uphold the values of unity, diligence, and patriotism for the collective good of the State.
The commissioner concluded by wishing all workers a peaceful and rewarding Workers’ Day celebration, urging them to remain steadfast in their contributions toward building a safer and more prosperous Oyo State.
