Inter Milan president Beppe Marotta has addressed growing speculation surrounding star defender Alessandro Bastoni, confirming that Barcelona have shown interest in the Italian international but insists the move remains far from concrete.
In an update shared by football transfer expert Fabrizio Romano, Marotta revealed that while the Catalan giants have made initial inquiries, no serious negotiations have taken place.
“I won’t deny there is interest from Barcelona, but it is still very superficial and not concrete,” Marotta stated.
The Inter president then laid out the club’s firm stance on player departures, making it clear that any exit would only happen if Bastoni himself pushed for a move.
“As we’ve always said, a player leaves only if he expresses the desire to go. At the moment, he is our player, he wants to stay, and we are happy with him.”
Bastoni, 25, has been a key figure in Inter’s defence under Simone Inzaghi, helping the club secure domestic cups and a Champions League final appearance. With Barcelona hunting for left-sided defensive reinforcements, the Italy international’s profile fits their needs – but for now, the player’s happiness at San Siro appears to be the deciding factor.
For Inter fans, Marotta’s words offer reassurance: no sale is imminent unless Bastoni changes his mind.
