The People’s Mandate Group has bought the All Progressives Congress (APC) Expression of Interest and Nomination forms for Hon. (Obol) Cyril James Omini, who represents Yakurr I State Constituency in the Cross River State House of Assembly.
The group claimed the decision reflects its confidence in Omini’s leadership after three years of what it described as proactive and people-oriented representation.
The forms were presented to the lawmaker, who is the chairman of Finance and Appropriation Committee at the Cross River state House of Assembly yesterday at his residence in Ugep community in Yakurr local government area of Cross River State.
Spokesperson for the group Mr. Odum Sunday, stated that the gesture was driven by Omini’s performance, accessibility, and commitment to the welfare and development of the constituency.
“This decision was informed by Hon. Omini’s performance, accessibility, and commitment to the welfare and development of the constituency,” Odum said.
The People’s Mandate Group wants Omini to continue his legislative work under the APC in the interest of Yakurr I and Cross River State at large.
The group pointed to his effective representation, grassroots engagement, empowerment initiatives, and dedication to constituents’ welfare as reasons for its support.
It added that his Assembly track record has earned him “unprecedented support across Yakurr I and beyond.”
Key interventions cited by the group include road construction, youth employment, and empowerment programmes that have “significantly improved the socioeconomic status of the constituents.”
The group said purchasing the forms shows its resolve to back credible leadership and sustain ongoing development.
It pledged total support for Omini in the coming elections and assured him of “overwhelming votes across the constituency.”
In his reaction to the issue, Omini lauded The People’s Mandate Group for what he called “a demonstration of love, trust, and confidence in his leadership.”
He promised continued quality representation, inclusive governance, and policies that will drive development in Yakurr I and Cross River State if re-elected.
Omini also urged constituents to stay supportive of Governor Bassey Otu’s administration and the APC.
He called for unity and focus as the political process unfolds, stressing the need for “peace, cooperation, and sustained engagement in the interest of the constituency.
