Nigerian entrepreneur and political mobiliser, Suleiman Abubakar Magaji, has pledged N20 million in support of the re-election campaign of Shittu Ibrahim Aremu, member representing Saki West Constituency in Oyo State House of Assembly.

Magaji disclosed this while speaking with journalists on Sunday.

He said his support was informed by Aremu’s performance in office and leadership style rather than political party affiliation.

According to him, Aremu has distinguished himself as a focused, results-driven lawmaker whose continued presence in the Assembly would further benefit his constituency.

“My leadership position has always been clear about competence and delivery. I have followed Hon. Aremu’s work closely, and I am convinced he has earned the opportunity to continue. That is why I have decided to support his campaign.”

He noted that Aremu’s performance is particularly significant given the political realities in Oyo State, where the Peoples Democratic Party controls the legislature.

Despite being in the minority, Magaji said Aremu has remained visible and effective, helping to sustain a vibrant opposition within the Assembly.

“In a largely PDP-controlled environment, he has managed to distinguish himself. His role has helped ensure that opposition voices remain relevant and active,” he said.

Magaji also alluded to the political challenges faced by the lawmaker, noting that resistance from the ruling party had, at times, affected development efforts in the constituency.

“Even in the face of setbacks, including disruptions to projects, he has remained committed to his responsibilities and to the people,” he added.

He further commended Aremu’s loyalty to the All Progressives Congress, saying the lawmaker reportedly resisted attempts to defect.

“That consistency speaks to his character and principles,” Magaji said.

Aremu has been associated with active legislative engagement, constituency outreach, and initiatives focused on infrastructure, education and youth development across Saki West.

Magaji also praised his oversight functions, describing them as diligent and impactful in promoting accountability among government agencies.

“Effective oversight is critical to governance, and he has shown commitment in ensuring that public resources are properly managed and utilised,” he said.

They added that beyond legislative duties, Aremu has facilitated several community-based projects aimed at improving living standards and creating opportunities for young people in the constituency.

Magaji, who is the North Central Zonal Youth Coordinator of the City Boy Movement, a group aligned with Bola Ahmed Tinubu, said his support for Aremu reflects a broader commitment to promoting capable Leadership across the country.

He stressed the importance of continuity in governance, noting that returning experienced lawmakers to office helps sustain ongoing projects and deepen developmental gains.

“Continuity allows progress to build. It ensures that projects are completed and existing efforts are strengthened rather than abandoned,” he said.

Magaji urged constituents in Saki West to assess Aremu’s record as preparations for the next election cycle begin.
