Senator Yakubu Lado Danmarke’s governorship bid received a boost recently as some students in Katsina State bought the N21 million expression of interest and nomination forms of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) for him.
Presenting the forms to Danmarke, the chairman of the Katsina State chapter of the National Association of University Students, Musa Ibrahim Daudawa, commended the senator for his unprecedented interventions in education.
He stated that the decision to buy the forms for Danmarke was in appreciation of what he described as a lasting legacy of service to humanity, noting that the senator’s interventions would continue to have an impact for generations.
Daudawa, flanked by other students, emphasised Lado’s quiet but significant contributions to the academic progress of “countless underprivileged” students, helping them to finish their studies at various tertiary institutions across Katsina State and beyond.
A cross-section of the students who spoke during the formal presentation said their decision was informed by the need to support him ‘bring about the much-needed change in Katsina, having demonstrated the capacity to radically change the economic fortunes of the state and its people’.
One of the students, Isa Ahmadu Lawali, lauded Senator Danmarke for his record in public service and his unwavering dedication to education in the state, noting that he represents hope for a functional education system.
