The Director General of the National Sports Commission (NSC), Hon. Bukola Olopade, has extended special commendation to Nigeria’s First Lady, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, CON, for her unwavering support of Nigerian sports.
Olopade made these remarks as the First Lady hosted Nigeria’s victorious women’s wrestling team, who recently triumphed at the Africa Wrestling Championship in Egypt. The team secured an unprecedented 15th continental title in the women’s category, achieving eight gold and two silver medals.
Mr Olopade highlighted the First Lady as a significant advocate for Nigerian wrestling, particularly emphasising her dedication to women’s participation in sports.
“The First Lady’s special commitment to Nigerian sport has played a substantial role in the continuous success of the nation’s female athletes at various continental and global competitions,” Olopade stated in a statement released on Thursday by his SA media Kola Daniel.
He added, “She has been a mother to every one of us, sacrificing her time, attention, and finances to ensure every girl pursuing sport truly lives their dreams to the fullest.”
