Nollywood actor Uzee Usman has spoken about the growing pressure associated with the extravagant fashion culture surrounding the Africa Magic Viewers’ Choice Awards, particularly the millions of naira some celebrities spend on their appearances.

Speaking during discussions around the award ceremony, Usman acknowledged that the growing attention to red carpet fashion has created expectations within the entertainment industry. According to him, many actors now feel compelled to invest heavily in outfits and styling to remain visible at major entertainment events.

“The pressure is becoming too much,” the actor reportedly stated while reflecting on the rising costs associated with AMVCA appearances and celebrity fashion culture.

Industry observers note that award ceremonies have evolved beyond film recognition to become major fashion showcases, with designers, stylists, and celebrities using the platforms to gain attention and social media visibility.

Stakeholders within the entertainment and fashion industries say red carpet appearances often involve significant spending on clothing, accessories, makeup, and media promotion, particularly for public figures hoping to stand out during high-profile events.

Usman’s comments have since generated conversations online, with many social media users debating whether the focus on fashion at entertainment events is beginning to overshadow the awards themselves.

The discussion reflects wider concerns within the entertainment industry about the financial and social pressures attached to celebrity appearances and maintaining relevance in an increasingly image-driven media environment.
