NDC Aspirants Say Nigeria At Crossroads, Pledge To End Insecurity, Hardship

Aspirants of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) have declared that Nigeria can no longer continue on the path of insecurity, economic hardship, unemployment and institutional collapse, describing the nation as being at critical crossroads.

Speaking at a press conference themed; “Rescue Nigeria: Consolidating Hope, Building a New Beginning,” held at the Nigerian Union of Journalists headquarters in Abuja yesterday, a chieftain of the party, Mal Abdullahi Gambari, said urgent action was needed to halt the country’s decline.

The event, powered by the Coalition for the Protection of Democracy (COPDEM), brought together party stakeholders and civil society organisations.

Speaking on behalf of the aspirants, Mr Mazi Nnamdi Dickson Iroegbu said, “Families are crushed by inflation, unemployed graduates roam the streets, farmlands are abandoned due to insecurity, and frustration is widespread among youths and women.”

He assured Nigerians that the 11th Assembly would live up to expectations, unlike the current “rubber stamp” 10th Assembly.

“This is not just another press conference. This is a national awakening.

This is the moment we draw a line in the sand and declare that enough is enough.

“Our hope is not dead. It is alive, angry, and rising like a mighty tide ready to sweep away failure and mediocrity,” he said.

Special tribute was paid to Senator Henry Seriake Dickson, the party’s founder and national leader, who was praised for establishing the NDC despite political and legal obstacles.

Another aspirant, Mr Akor Christian Oche, clarified COPDEM’s role in driving opposition voices, adding that the partnership would help propel the NDC into a grassroots party.

The aspirants stressed their mission was not politics as usual but a determined effort to rescue the nation from bad governance, advocating for a Nigeria where every vote counts, women and youths are given meaningful opportunities, and children from disadvantaged communities can aspire to greatness.

“To the Nigerian people: do not lose hope. The dawn is near,” he said, urging citizens to reject division and embrace unity.
