The Rivers state governor, Siminalayi Fubara on Sunday came visibly angry after appearing before the All Progressives Congress (APC) panel screening serving governors seeking re-election and contesting for senatorial seats.

APC on Friday commenced the screening of serving governors seeking re-election and those aspiring for the senate ahead of the forthcoming primary elections.

While the exercise ended on Saturday with almost all the serving governors aspiring for elective positions, Fubara who is also seeking the party’s ticket to contest for a second term in office was conspicuously missing.

When approached by journalists to find out what was the issues, Fubara simply said, “No comment.”

Asked whether the Rivers governor was screened or not,

APC National Secretary and member of the panel, Dr Ajibola Basiru asked reporters to wait for the report of the screening committee.

“I don’t know what you mean by screen, anybody that appears before screening committee, of course, is necessary as part of the process.

“After appearing before screening committee, the screen committee will issue its report.

“As at now, the screening committee, having, when it has completed seeing everybody is supposed to see, will now sit down and come out with report of screening committee. As of now, there’s no report of screening committee.”
