Governor Monday Okpebholo yesterday led an array of political leaders, government officials and sympathisers to a special thanksgiving service held in honour of the late Mrs Esther Imaguomwanruo Idahosa, mother of the deputy governor of Edo State, Dennis Idahosa.

The g service, which marked the concluding activities for the burial rites of the matriarch, was held at Living Faith Church (Winners’ Chapel International), Sapele Road, Benin City.

The event attracted prominent dignitaries from within and outside the state, including former Edo State governor, Lucky Igbinedion; former deputy governor, Lucky Imasuen; deputy state chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Sylvester Aigboboh; members of the Edo State House of Assembly, commissioners, political associates, family members and other well-wishers.

Governor Okpebholo, attended the service in solidarity with the deputy governor and the Idahosa family as they celebrated the life and legacy of the deceased, who died at the age of 95.

LEADERSHIP gathered that the thanksgiving service came barely a day after a Service of Songs held on Saturday in Benin City, where tributes and eulogies flowed in honour of late Mrs. Esther Idahosa.

Speakers at the event described her as a virtuous woman, devoted mother and a pillar of support whose impact transcended her immediate family and community.

Delivering the sermon during the thanksgiving service, Pastor Emmanuel Ebiwoye preached from Mark 4:11, charging Christians to remain steadfast in faith and maintain total dependence on God irrespective of life’s challenges.

Special prayers were also offered for the Idahosa family, the Edo State Government and peace, unity and development of Edo State.
