The Commandant of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Command, Dr. Olusola Odumosu, has charged newly- appointed Area Commanders and Divisional Officers to demonstrate renewed commitment towards actualising the core mandates of the Corps.

Odumosu gave the charge at the conclusion of a five-day intensive retreat organised for the officers at the FCT Command Headquarters, Wuse Zone 5, Abuja.

According to a statement signed by the FCT Command spokesperson, DSC Monica Ojobi, speaking during the closing ceremony, the FCT commandant emphasised the importance of continuous training and retraining in ensuring discipline, regimentation, and efficient service delivery within the Corps.

He stated that , the retreat was designed to sharpen the leadership capacity and operational competence of the officers in preparation for the demanding responsibilities ahead.

“This training is one in a series of programmes aimed at making you better officers capable of representing the Corps anywhere. It has sharpened your leadership qualities and reinforced public service discipline and regimentation in you,” Odumosu said.

He urged the officers to align fully with the core mandates of the NSCDC while strictly adhering to administrative procedures in their various areas of operation.

The Commandant described the retreat as strategic, noting that Area Commanders and Divisional Officers serve as the face of the Corps at the grassroots level.

“We cannot secure the FCT with officers who are not in tune with emerging security realities. This is about building competent leaders who will deliver results without compromising standards,” he added.

Odumosu stressed that discipline, professionalism, and strict adherence to the law and operational guidelines of the Corps remain non-negotiable.

The participants were trained in areas including operational efficiency, inter-agency collaboration, public service ethics, financial regulations, complaint handling, intelligence gathering, administrative communication channels, and report writing.

The five-day training programme drew personnel from all six Area Commands and divisions under the FCT Command and, according to the Commandant, has produced officers with renewed capacity to tackle emerging security challenges while maintaining the highest standards of professionalism.
