Sadiq Umar has called on Valencia to stay fully concentrated as the club battles to secure its place in La Liga, following another match-winning performance in their victory over Athletic Club.

The Nigerian striker netted the game’s only goal at San Mamés, delivering a vital 1-0 away win and extending his impressive run of form for the Mestalla side.

The goal was his third in four league appearances, helping Valencia push further clear of the relegation zone. After the match, Sadiq emphasized the need for consistency as the season enters its final stretch.

“These are three very important points for the team. We have to keep going like this,” he told the club’s social media channels.

Introduced as a second-half substitute, the forward made an immediate impact, scoring with his first touch. He was quick to credit the team effort behind the goal.

“It was the first ball I touched, but the most important thing is the team—that we work together,” he said.

Sadiq also acknowledged the difficulty of claiming three points on the road, praising the squad’s overall display. “Winning here is very important, at a tough stadium. We all knew that. We’re very happy,” he added.

Looking ahead to their upcoming home match against Rayo Vallecano, he urged his teammates to maintain their commitment and finish the campaign on a strong note.

“Now we’re going to play at Mestalla. We knew it wasn’t going to be easy today, but we always try to give our best,” Sadiq said.

The goal marks a continued resurgence for the Nigerian, who now has four goals and three assists in 17 league appearances since joining Valencia. Following a difficult stretch earlier in the season—where he went seven straight matches without scoring—he has rediscovered his form, finding the net against Mallorca, Girona, and now Athletic Club in recent weeks.

His contributions have helped lift Valencia to 12th place with 42 points, significantly easing fears of relegation.
