Taraba State governor, Dr Agbu Kefas, has reiterated his administration’s commitment to strengthening collaboration with the Federal University, Wukari (FUW), to enhance educational development and institutional growth in the state.
Governor Kefas gave the assurance when he hosted the Governing Council and management of the university, led by the Pro-Chancellor and Chairman of Council, Prof. Iysa Ade Bello, at the TY Danjuma House in Jalingo.
The governor expressed confidence in the leadership capacity of the newly appointed vice-chancellor, Prof. Benjamin Kefas, describing him as a competent administrator with the experience and vision required to reposition the institution for academic excellence and stability.
He urged members of the university community to rally behind the vice-chancellor to promote unity, peace and progress within the institution.
Governor Kefas warned against divisions capable of disrupting the university’s smooth administration and stressed the need to respect constituted authorities and to collectively commit to the institution’s growth.
He noted that his administration would continue to partner with the university in critical areas that would benefit students and residents of the state, as his relationship with the institution predates his emergence as governor.
The governor further said the state government’s sustained investment in education and the establishment of additional tertiary institutions underscored the need for stronger collaboration among educational institutions to drive development in Taraba.
Earlier, Prof. Kefas commended the governor for prioritising education and youth empowerment, saying he is a committed leader to human capital development.
According to him, Governor Kefas had consistently supported scholarship schemes and educational programmes even before assuming office.
The vice-chancellor also praised the administration’s education policies, particularly the reduction of tuition fees at state-owned tertiary institutions and efforts to expand access to quality education.
Also, Prof. Bello appreciated the state government for sustained moral, financial and logistical support to the institution.
