Continuity Key To Sustaining Development, Says Southern Kaduna Group

The Southern Kaduna Professionals Forum (SKPF) has said continuity in leadership remains critical to sustaining ongoing development and consolidating recent gains across Southern Kaduna ahead of the 2027 general elections.

The group stated this on Tuesday during a meeting with Senator Sunday Marshall Katung and the member representing Jema’a/Sanga Federal Constituency, Daniel Amos, in Zonkwa, headquarters of Zangon Kataf and Jema’a local Government Areas respectively.

Led by its President, Arc. Samuel Yakubu, the Forum said its position was informed by what it described as the lawmakers’ visible contributions to infrastructure development, education, healthcare, youth empowerment, and effective representation in the National Assembly.

According to the group, Southern Kaduna was beginning to witness strategic federal interventions capable of transforming the socio-economic landscape of the region, stressing that sustaining such progress required stability and continuity in leadership.

The Forum noted that both lawmakers had distinguished themselves through people-oriented programmes, constituency projects, and legislative initiatives targeted at addressing long-standing developmental challenges in the area.

It particularly cited the establishment of the Federal University of Applied Sciences, Kachia and the proposed Federal Medical Centre, Kafanchan as landmark achievements with long-term benefits for education, healthcare delivery, economic growth, and job creation.

The group maintained that leadership should be evaluated on the basis of measurable impact and commitment to public service rather than political sentiments.

“Southern Kaduna has started witnessing a new phase of strategic development, and continuity is necessary to sustain and expand these gains,” the Forum stated.

The professionals added that frequent political changes without clear developmental alternatives could slow ongoing progress and weaken the region’s collective political strength.

While acknowledging the constitutional rights of individuals to seek elective offices, the Forum insisted that any political contest should be driven by ideas, competence, and a clear agenda for development.

The group further warned against what it described as divisive politics capable of undermining unity and stability within the ruling All Progressives Congress in Southern Kaduna.

It therefore urged political stakeholders, community leaders, youths, and party supporters to prioritise unity, stability, and sustained development in the overall interest of the region.

The Forum also formally endorsed the re-election bids of Senator Katung and Hon. Amos ahead of the 2027 elections, pledging to mobilise support across the eight local government areas of Southern Kaduna.

Responding, Senator Katung thanked the Forum for the endorsement and confidence reposed in him, describing the support as a collective commitment toward advancing the interests of Southern Kaduna.

He appealed for continued support for the administration of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Kaduna State Governor Uba Sani, noting that continuity at both federal and state levels remained important for sustained development.

“We are committed to consolidating on the gains already recorded and ensuring more dividends of democracy reach our people,” the Senator said.

Also speaking, Hon. Amos described representation as a service to humanity, pledging continued commitment to initiatives aimed at improving the lives of the people.

“We will continue to provide quality representation and pursue programmes that will positively impact our communities,” he said.
