The Kwankwasiyya Movement, a support group loyal to former New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) presidential candidate, Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, has dismissed claims by the national chairman of the Peoples Redemption Party (PRP), Hakeem Baba-Ahmed, that Kwankwaso and former Labour Party presidential candidate, Peter Obi, demanded the party’s presidential ticket ahead of the 2027 elections.

Baba-Ahmed had alleged that both Obi and Kwankwaso were unable to join the PRP because they reportedly insisted on securing the party’s presidential ticket, a request he said was not granted.

Reacting to the claim, a spokesperson for the Kwankwasiyya Movement, Habeeb Saleh Mohammed, described the allegation as false, accusing Baba-Ahmed of seeking public attention.

Mohammed said he was not aware of any formal meeting in which either Kwankwaso or Obi demanded the PRP presidential ticket, insisting that no such discussion ever took place.

“Well, I believe every Nigerian that is actually familiar with the situation will tell you that the PRP made an appeal on national television through its national chairman, Hakeem Baba-Ahmed, asking Peter Obi and my principal, and even members of the coalition, to move into the PRP,” he said.

He maintained that beyond the public invitation extended by the PRP leadership, there was no direct engagement in which both politicians sought the party’s presidential ticket.

The development comes amid ongoing political realignments and coalition discussions ahead of the 2027 general elections.
