The Ooni of Ife, Oba Adeyeye Enitan Ogunwusi, has opened up about the personal realities of his traditional household, admitting that he once criticized and mocked men who married multiple wives.
In a video circulating across social media platforms on the monarch spoke candidly about his sudden transition into a large marital circle, noting that life has a ironic way of placing people in situations they once judged from afar.
“I am always shy with the numerous wives I have because when I was younger, I used to abuse people with many wives and wonder how they cope, but see me doing the same today,” the traditional ruler stated.
While the monarch did not fully disclose the private reasons behind his expansive household, he hinted that his decision was heavily bound to the spiritual responsibilities, customs, and ancient demands attached to the revered throne of Ile-Ife.
The Ooni’s royal household famously expanded in the latter half of 2022 when he legally wedded six queens within a three-month window, including Olori Mariam Anako, Olori Elizabeth Akinmuda, Olori Tobiloba Phillips, Olori Ashley Adegoke, Olori Ronke Ademiluyi, and Olori Temitope Adesegun.
