The Zamfara State House of Assembly, under the leadership of the Rt. Hon. Speaker, Bilyaminu Ismail Moriki, during its plenary session, has deliberated upon and approved the extension of the suspension of seven of its members for an additional period of one Legislative Session.

According to a statement issued by the Spokesperson of the office Speaker Zamfara State House of Assembly, Bello Madaro Kurya, the lawmakers are under investigation for alleged misconduct and violations of the House Standing Orders.

The resolution followed a motion robustly moved by the Majority Leader of the House, Hon. Bello Muhammad Mazawajje (Tsafe East), and seconded by Hon. Ibrahim Garba Liman (Fegin Mahe), representing Gusau II Constituency.

Presenting the justification for the extension, Hon. Bello Muhammad Mazawajje noted that while the initial suspension period had lapsed, the ongoing litigation regarding the matter necessitates a formal extension of the disciplinary action pending judicial determination.

Following a unanimous consensus by the House, the Rt. Hon. Speaker, Bilyaminu Ismail Moriki, officially announced the extension of the suspension of affected members involving Hon. Bashir Abubakar– Bukkuyum North Constituency, Hon. Bashir Aliyu–Gummi I, and Hon. Nasiru Abdullahi–Maru North.

Others were Hon. Faruku Musa Dosara–Maradun I, Hon. Amiru Ahmad Keta–Tsafe West, Hon. Ibrahim T. Tukur–Bakura, and Hon. Bashir Bello–Bungudu West Constituency.

In a related legislative development during the sitting, the House received and deliberated upon three Executive Bills transmitted to the legislature by the Executive Arm of government.

Key among these bills is a legislative proposal seeking to provide a structured framework for pensions, gratuities, and allowances for former Governors, former Deputy Governors, former Speakers, and former Deputy Speakers of the State, among other administrative matters.

Furthermore, in strict compliance with the provisions of Section 104 of the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria 1999 (as amended), the House officially adopted and approved its legislative calendar of activities for the 2026/2027 legislative year. Consequently, the House has adjourned and proceeded on recess.
