The All Progressives Congress (APC) yesterday recorded peaceful primaries for its House of Representatives aspirants across Rivers State.
LEADERSHIP Sunday observed that a total of 20 aspirants from 10 federal constituencies in the state participated in the exercise.
Prominent among them is the Speaker of the Rivers State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Martins Amaewhule, who is seeking to succeed the Minority Leader of the House of Representatives, Hon. Kingsley Chinda, as the representative of Obio/Akpor Federal Constituency.
The primaries for Obio/Akpor Federal Constituency, which is the constituency of the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Chief Nyesom Wike, were held at Ward One, Eliozu Community in Obio/Akpor Local Government Area.
The primaries for Ikwerre/Emohua Federal Constituency were held at Ward 10, Elibrada Community in Emohua Local Government Area of the state.
The APC House of Representatives primaries in the state were monitored by officials of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) as well as APC officials led by the party’s National Publicity Secretary, Felix Morka.
Addressing party stakeholders shortly after the exercise at Elibrada Community, an APC chieftain and Director-General of the National Oil Spill Detection and Response Agency (NOSDRA), Chief Emeka Woke, lauded the peaceful outcome of the exercise.
“I want to thank the leadership of the All Progressives Congress at the national and state levels for conducting a free and fair primary election.
“As you can see here, there was no quarrel, no rancour and no disagreement, to show you that our leader, the leader of the Renewed Hope Family and the Rainbow Coalition in Rivers State, Chief Nyesom Wike, has provided leadership. What we have demonstrated here is just to reciprocate that leadership,” Woke said.
