Worried by the high rate of abuse of illicit drugs amongst the nation’s youths, a non-governmental organisation, Ma’aruf Hassan Abubakar Foundation Against Illicit Drugs Activities, has expressed its readiness to build N30 billion rehabilitation centres in the six-geo political zones of the country.

The foundation’s national president, Ambassador Ma’aruf Hassan Abubakar made this known while speaking with newsmen in Ibadan, Oyo State, expressing worries about the high usage of illicit drugs among youths across the country.

While stressing the need for a positive change, he noticed that N5 billion would be spent for the rehabilitation centre in each zone.

He said the journey of the foundation started on 25th July 2019 with the aim of contributing to the nation’s building.

Dwelling on the rehabilitation centers project, Ambassador Ma’aruf said, “We want to  see how we can checkmate all those problems and apart from that we think the best the way to achieve this is to open a rehabilitation centers in six geo political zones of the country, 36 states including the FCT Abuja and in all 774 local government area across the country.

“We intend to build 250 rehabilitation centers of at least minimum of one in each local government, we will be conducting training, seminars, engaging programs,  skills and vocational studies on how our youths can become useful to the society, by the time youths learn how to become independent on themselves. By the time our youths are empowered with skills acquisition and creativity all these issues of  taking drugs and other insecurity vices that are happening here and there will be reduced to the barest minimum.
