Kaduna State Governor, Uba Sani, has approved the appointment of Suleiman Sa’ad Abubakar as the new Emir of Kagarko.
The appointment, which took immediate effect, was announced on Monday in a statement issued by the Kaduna State Commissioner for Local Government, Sadiq Mamman.
Abubakar, who previously held the traditional title of San Turakin Kagarko, succeeds the late Sa’ad Abubakar, who died in January after a six-year reign.
According to the statement, the new emir emerged after a rigorous selection process conducted by kingmakers of the Kagarko Emirate Council.
Governor Sani congratulated the monarch on his ascension to the throne and urged him to promote peaceful coexistence and unity across the emirate.
“The Governor also charged the new Emir to steadfastly promote peace and harmony within his communities,” the commissioner said.
The state government added that arrangements for the formal installation ceremony and presentation of the staff of office would be announced later.
