President of the 9th Senate, Ahmad Lawan, has emerged as the consensus candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) for Yobe North Senatorial District ahead of the 2027 general elections.
In a statement issued on Monday in Abuja by his Media Adviser, Ezrel Tabiowo, Lawan expressed appreciation to the party leadership at both national and state levels, as well as stakeholders who supported his emergence.
Those he thanked include Yobe State governor, Mai Mala Buni, and the Minister of Police Affairs, Senator Ibrahim Gaidam.
According to the statement, stakeholders in Yobe North endorsed Lawan after he was cleared by the APC national leadership, paving the way for his consensus candidacy.
Lawan said Nigeria is currently experiencing reforms under President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, especially in economic policy, infrastructure development, and social investment programmes.
He praised the administration’s “Renewed Hope Agenda,” citing initiatives such as student loans, consumer credit schemes, and agricultural reforms aimed at improving livelihoods.
He said his return to the Senate would allow him to support policies that would bring more development to Yobe North and the wider North-East region.
Lawan also outlined plans to promote digital economy participation, youth skills development, and commercial agriculture if elected in 2027.
He called for peaceful, issue-based campaigns and assured constituents of continued development under the APC-led administration.
