World Body Appoints Nigerian Diplomat Ojadah, Consul–General

The International Organisation for Economic Development (IOED) has appointed a renowned Nigerian diplomat, Ambassador Jonathan Ojadah, as its new consul-general.

The appointment was officially confirmed by the IOED Media and Communications Department in Paris, France, following an earlier declaration by the organisation’s African Continental Headquarters in Abidjan, Côte d’Ivoire.

In a statement issued on Friday, the organisation described Ojadah as a visionary leader with extensive diplomatic experience, strategic continental reach, and deep knowledge of African economic dynamics.

The IOED stated that Ojadah’s appointment is expected to strengthen the organisation’s diplomatic and economic engagements across Africa and beyond.

In his new role, Ojadah will oversee the advancement of the organization’s key mandates, including investment attraction, continental trade integration, and sustainable economic development.

The statement noted that he would focus on accelerating foreign direct investment into emerging African markets, particularly in infrastructure, healthcare, digital technology, manufacturing, and green energy sectors.

He is also expected to promote regional trade integration by supporting trade corridors, reducing structural barriers affecting small and medium-sized enterprises, and advancing the objectives of the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA).

The organisation further disclosed that Ojadah would coordinate initiatives aimed at aligning regional economic programmes with the African Union Agenda 2063 and the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
