All Progressives Congress (APC)recorded a large turnout of supporters during its House of Representatives primary election for the Bekwarra/Obudu/Obanliku Federal Constituency in Cross River State, with over 16,000 party members participating in the exercise conducted across the three local government areas.

Results made available to journalists showed that 18,921 APC members were registered for the primary election, while 16,564 valid votes were cast during the exercise.

No void vote was recorded, a development party leadership described as a reflection of the peaceful and orderly conduct of the primaries.

The election, which took place under the supervision of APC electoral officials, was conducted across Bekwarra, Obudu and Obanliku local government areas of the state.

At the end of the exercise, Peter A. Akpanke emerged winner after polling 14,252 votes to defeat five other aspirants in the contest.

The state APC chairman, Hon. Chris Etta, described the primary election as transparent and credible after Hon. Peter Akpanke emerged winner of the party’s House of Representatives primary.

Etta said the exercise was conducted in line with the Electoral Act and the party’s constitution, insisting that all aspirants were given equal opportunity to participate in the process.
