Music producer and Mavin Records boss, Michael Collins Ajereh, popularly known as Don Jazzy, has revealed why he no longer attends certain music concerts in Nigeria.
Speaking in a recent interview, the music mogul blamed security concerns and the unsafe behaviour of some fans for his decision to stay away. He noted that attendees often lose valuable items, such as phones and wristwatches, at these events, which makes the environment uncomfortable.
Don Jazzy compared those unsafe events to the shows hosted by his label artist, Johnny Drille, which he described as peaceful and orderly.
“Johnny Drille has an amazing community. It’s just one of those shows where I can literally go, and I don’t necessarily have to carry money because nobody would disturb me. There are some fans that if you go to some of their concerts, you will not come out in the same way. If you wear a wristwatch or something, you’ll not come out with it,” Don Jazzy said.
He praised both Johnny Drille and Ayra Starr for building positive fan communities that stand out in the music industry.
Meanwhile, his comments have caused a stir online. While some fans agreed with his security concerns, others accused the music producer of using the opportunity to promote his own artist.
