MC Casino, Edo born Lawrence Osarenkhoe, alongside fellow comedians Sakin Dariya, MC Samba, Abino and other Nigerian comedy acts, are set to storm the United Kingdom following the massive success of the Funny By Nature comedy show held in Lagos.

The comedy spectacle, which took place on May 10 at the prestigious Convention Centre, Victoria Island, Lagos, delivered an unforgettable night of laughter and entertainment as comedy lovers thronged the sold-out venue for what many described as one of the most refreshing stand-up experiences in recent times.

Produced by Engraced Group, the event celebrated originality in comedy, bringing together some of Nigeria’s naturally gifted stand-up comedians on one stage.

The night witnessed electrifying performances from top comedy veterans and crowd favourites including Igodye, Destalker, Acapella, Bovi, Julius Agwu, Funny Bone and several others, all of whom turned the event into a comedy marathon that kept guests asking for more long after the show ended.

The atmosphere remained charged throughout the evening as each act delivered rib-cracking performances that left the audience in stitches.

Adding glamour to the event was legendary broadcaster and veteran compere, IK Osakioduwa, who officially ushered MC Casino onto the stage in a moment that drew loud applause from the excited audience.

Music stars, Nice and Hammer Boi also thrilled guests with energetic performances, while several entertainment industry figures turned up in solidarity to celebrate the fast-rising comedy sensation.

Speaking to LEADERSHIP after the successful outing, MC Casino disclosed that the Funny By Nature brand would now be moving beyond Nigeria with an ambitious United Kingdom tour scheduled for August.

According to him, the tour will cover major cities including London, Manchester, Birmingham, Leeds and Scotland.

He further revealed that comedians billed for the UK tour include Sakin Dariya, Mr. Paul, MC Danfo, MC Samba, MC Casino and several other notable entertainers expected to deliver a rich blend of African humour and stagecraft to international audiences.

On balancing comedy with social advocacy, MC Casino said comedians have a responsibility beyond making people laugh.

“We do not trivialise issues; rather, we use comedy to draw government attention to societal problems. I have an activist background, so whenever things go wrong in society, I use my platform to speak about them.

“The business of making jokes is not a joking business. Today, many comedians are educated, informed and conscious of what a better society should look like,” he said.
