Ajibola Vows To Help Build Strong Golden Eaglets Team

Newly appointed Nigeria U-17 assistant coach Olumide Ajibola has pledged to bring his player development philosophy to the national team as preparations begin for the upcoming regional qualifiers.

Ajibola, who previously worked with Nigeria National League side Beyond Limits, was recently named assistant coach of the Nigeria national under-17 football team alongside newly appointed head coach Eboboritse Uwejamomere.

The coaching crew is expected to prepare the Golden Eaglets for the WAFU B U-17 Boys Championship scheduled for September. The tournament will serve as the qualifying competition for the 2027 Africa U-17 Cup of Nations.

Speaking on his appointment, Ajibola described the opportunity to serve the national team as a major responsibility and promised to contribute positively to the development of young Nigerian footballers.

“Serving with the U-17 national team is a responsibility I do not take lightly,” Ajibola was quoted as saying by Adexsport.

“The work we do here at Beyond Limits is about building players for the future, and that aligns directly with what the national setup requires.”

Ajibola has earned praise in recent years for his role in developing young talents at Beyond Limits, a club widely recognised for its structured youth football programme. His appointment is seen by many football observers as part of efforts by the Nigeria Football Federation to strengthen the country’s youth development system.

Nigeria’s Golden Eaglets remain one of the most successful teams in youth football history, having won multiple FIFA U-17 World Cup titles. Supporters will now hope the new coaching crew can build another competitive squad capable of restoring the team’s dominance on the continental stage.
