Iheanacho On Target As Celtic Win Scottish FA Cup

Super Eagles striker Kelechi Iheanacho once again proved his worth on the big stage, scoring a crucial goal as Celtic secured a 3-1 victory over Dunfermline Athletic in the Scottish FA Cup final at Hampden Park.

The win completed a remarkable domestic double for the Glasgow club, who had already lifted the Scottish Premiership title just weeks earlier.

From the opening whistle, Celtic looked every bit the champions they are. Japanese winger Daizen Maeda opened the scoring early in the first half, calmly slotting home after a well-worked move down the left flank.

The Hoops doubled their advantage before the break when Arne Engels converted from close range, leaving Dunfermline with a mountain to climb.

But it was Iheanacho’s strike in the second half that truly put the game beyond doubt.

The Nigerian forward, who has rediscovered his best form since arriving at Celtic Park, produced a moment of individual brilliance controlling a lofted pass on his chest before firing a precise finish past the helpless Dunfermline goalkeeper.

The goal extended Celtic’s lead to 3-0 and sent the sea of green-and-white supporters into raptures.

Dunfermline did manage a late consolation through Josh Cooper, who nodded home from a corner kick, but it was far too little, far too late. Celtic controlled the remainder of the match with composure, seeing out the final whistle to claim the trophy.

Iheanacho’s goal capped a sensational end to the season for the Super Eagles international. Since joining Celtic from Leicester City, the 27-year-old has experienced a true resurgence, becoming a key figure in Brendan Rodgers’ attack.

His impact in the Scottish Cup was particularly notable he scored twice in the semi-final victory over St. Mirren to send Celtic to Hampden Park, and his final strike served as the perfect punctuation mark on a dominant cup run.

The triumph underscores Celtic’s supremacy in Scottish football this season. By clinching both the league title and the FA Cup, they have reinforced their status as the nation’s top side, leaving rivals with little answer to their firepower and consistency.

For Iheanacho, the silverware adds another chapter to a career revival that will delight Nigerian fans and Celtic supporters alike.
