Governor Abba Yusuf has approved the release of N87.4 million for the re-accreditation of the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology at Muhammad Abdullahi Wase Teaching Hospital.

The approval, announced in a statement issued on recently by the Public Relations Officer of the Kano State Hospitals Management Board, Samira Suleiman, is aimed at strengthening specialist medical training and improving maternal healthcare services in the state.

According to the statement, the sum of N87,435,000 would support the re-accreditation process of the department as part of the state government’s efforts to reposition the healthcare sector.

The government said the intervention would enhance the hospital’s capacity in specialist training, improve professional standards in obstetrics and gynecology, and expand access to quality healthcare services for residents.

It added that the move underscored the commitment of the Yusuf administration to revitalising healthcare institutions and advancing medical education in Kano State.
