The Zamfara State Ministry for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs has commenced the payment of gratuity to the fourth batch of retired Local Government staff across the State, totalling N500 million.
A statement signed by Rufai Hassan Gusau, Public Relations Officer, Ministry for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Zamfara State, said this development is part of the Zamfara State government’s commitment to improve the welfare of retirees and ensure that former workers who served the Local Government and State diligently receive their entitlements without delay.
The Honourable Commissioner, Engineer Ahmad Garban Yandi, said that the payment reflects the Government’s determination to address the longstanding challenges faced by retired Local Government workers and pensioners in the State.
He explained that the approval and release of funds for the fourth batch of gratuity payments followed careful verification and documentation processes to ensure transparency, accountability, and fairness in the exercise.
The Commissioner commended Governor Dauda Lawal for prioritising the welfare of pensioners and retirees despite the numerous challenges confronting the State.
He reassured retirees that the Ministry will continue to work closely with relevant agencies and stakeholders to ensure the smooth and timely payment of gratuities and pensions.
The Commissioner further assured that the Government will continue to prioritise the welfare of both serving and retired workers and called on beneficiaries and the general public to continue their support and cooperation for government policies and programs to deliver more dividends of democracy to the people of the State.
Some Beneficiaries of the payments expressed appreciation to the Zamfara State Government under the leadership of Governor Dauda for the gesture, describing it as a relief that will significantly improve their living conditions and support their families.
