The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) has credited Dangote Cement’s transport policies and operational changes with a marked decrease in crashes involving the company’s articulated trucks.

FRSC Corps Marshal Shehu Mohammed, speaking during a visit by a Dangote Cement delegation to the Corps’ Abuja headquarters on Tuesday, said comparative data for 2025 and 2026 show a 56 per cent reduction in crashes involving Dangote Cement trucks, a 36 per cent decline in related fatalities and a 52 per cent fall in injuries. He described the company’s internal transport safety measures and gap-analysis work as effective and recommended them as models for other logistics operators.

Representatives of Dangote Cement said the company has invested in transport management systems, automated inspection tools and artificial intelligence applications intended to improve operational efficiency and road safety.

Company officials also noted continued emphasis on driver recertification, recurrent training, and a review of speed limit policies as part of wider safety reforms.

Group chief, HSSE and sustainability officer at Dangote Industries, Dr James Adenuga, said leadership commitment underpins the company’s safety initiatives and that the firm remains focused on incremental improvements and regulatory compliance.

Lead fleet safety, Nigeria, at Dangote Cement, Ozovehe Abraham, said technologies deployed to monitor driver behaviour in real time help identify risky driving patterns and support corrective action. The company’s delegation to the FRSC headquarters included the divisional director of Transport (Obajana), Hemant Rana (Col Rtd.); head of Pre-Trip Inspection, Charles Theophilus; and Dr Jibrin Abubakar of Group Branding and Communications.

The FRSC urged continued implementation and scaling of the measures cited, saying lessons from the private sector could complement national efforts to reduce road casualties.
