Eid-el-Kabir: Lawan Calls For National Rebirth Through Sacrifice

Former President of the 9th Senate, Ahmad Lawan, has called on Nigerians to embrace the spiritual lessons of Eid-el-Kabir as a pathway to national rebirth anchored on sacrifice, unity and empathy.

In a statement issued in Abuja, Lawan extended greetings to the Muslim Ummah in Yobe North, across Nigeria and around the world, describing Eid-el-Kabir as a divine reminder of faith, obedience and selflessness.

He said the festival reflects the profound lesson of Prophet Ibrahim’s willingness to sacrifice his most treasured possession in obedience to God, describing it as a metaphor for Nigeria’s collective journey.

“In the sublime act of Prophet Ibrahim’s (AS) willingness to offer his dearest possession, we find the eternal metaphor for our national journey. It teaches us that the path to a greater collective destiny is paved with the stones of personal sacrifice, faith, and submission to the will of the Almighty,” the statement read.

Lawan urged leaders and citizens to place national interest above personal gain, stressing that meaningful progress can only be achieved through sacrifice and shared responsibility.

He also called on Nigerians to shun tribalism and embrace compassion, noting that such values reflect the teachings and life of Prophet Muhammad (SAW).

The former Senate President encouraged citizens to remain patient and resilient in the face of national challenges, while sustaining prayers for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and other leaders.

“Let us remain resolute in our prayers for our President, His Excellency Bola Tinubu, our leaders and institutions, trusting that through steadfastness, our season of bountiful rain and rejuvenation is near,” he said.

Lawan added that with unity, sacrifice and faith, Nigeria can overcome its challenges and achieve lasting peace and prosperity.
