The Olowu of Kuta, HRM Oba Dr Hammed Makama Oyelude, Tegbosun III, has called on Muslims and Nigerians to embrace peace, unity and selflessness as they celebrate Eid-el-Kabir.

In his Sallah message on Wednesday, the Osun monarch described Eid-el-Kabir as a deeply spiritual period that demands dedication, commitment and sacrifice from adherents.

Oba Oyelude said the season offers Nigerians an opportunity to reflect on happenings across the country and promote messages of hope, tolerance and unity without provoking divisions.

“This is the time to reflect on the going on around us and preach messages of hope and unity devoid of any provocation,” the monarch said.

The traditional ruler urged Nigerians to coexist peacefully regardless of religious, political or ethnic differences, stressing that national unity should remain paramount.

He also appealed to politicians to exercise caution ahead of the 2027 general elections by avoiding inflammatory statements capable of heightening tension in the country.

According to him, every patriotic Nigerian must place the interest of the nation above personal or political considerations.

“What should be uppermost in the mind of every patriotic Nigerian is country first,” he stated.

While wishing Nigerians a peaceful Eid-el-Kabir celebration, Oba Oyelude urged citizens not to be discouraged by the prevailing security challenges, noting that members of the armed forces and other paramilitary agencies were working tirelessly to ensure a hitch-free celebration across the country.

“The price wise men pay for eternal liberty is to be vigilant,” he said.

The monarch further advised Nigerians to celebrate moderately and extend love and support to the less privileged, widows and orphans in line with the spirit of the festival.

“I urged everyone to be moderate in celebration and reach out to the less privileged, widows and orphans as our brothers’ and sisters’ keepers,” he added.
