Tributes have poured in for the late Rev. David Ayuba Azzaman as family members, church leaders and worshippers gathered at King’s Worship Chapel and Ministry, Sabon Tasha, Kaduna, to mark one year of his death.

The remembrance service, marked by prayers, emotional reflections and testimonies, celebrated the life and legacy of the late cleric, who was described as a committed servant of God whose ministry impacted many lives within and outside the church.

Speaking emotionally during the service, the widow of the late cleric, Mrs Agatha Ayuba, said life had not been easy for the family since the death of her husband, describing the past one year as a painful journey marked by grief, fear and painful memories.

Recalling the difficult moments she endured during her husband’s ministry, she said she constantly lived in fear because of the nature of his calling and public engagements, worrying daily about his safety and the future of their children.

She, however, encouraged women to uphold the sanctity of marriage, remain faithful to their vows and continue standing by their husbands during difficult times, while urging widows and grieving families not to lose hope in God.

The senior pastor of the church, Rev Samson Albert, said the church was yet to recover from the shock and pain of Azzaman’s sudden death.

“The announcement of the late pastor’s demise last year left members devastated. It was the toughest moment of our lives as a church. The day the announcement of his demise came, everybody was crying, women, children, men, it was painful for all of us,” he said.

Albert described the late cleric as a loyal and committed servant of God whose life was defined by love, sacrifice and service to humanity.

“We are celebrating a legacy today. Rev David Ayuba Azzaman lived an impactful life in such a short time. His life epitomised love, loyalty, commitment and service to humanity and the body of Christ,” he added.

He disclosed that the church experienced remarkable growth during Azzaman’s ministry, noting that his dedication and commitment attracted many worshippers.

Also speaking, Deacon Mutane Isuwa Luka, said the remembrance service was organised to preserve the memories and legacies left behind by the late pastor.

“One year after the death of Azzaman, it has not been easy for the church. We are remembering the good memories he shared with us and the legacies he left behind. That is why we are holding this memorial service,” he said.

Luka stated that the church witnessed tremendous growth during the late cleric’s time in ministry.

Also, Rev. Mohammed Mohammed urged Christians to remain steadfast in faith and continue to impact society positively despite prevailing economic and security challenges in the country.

He stressed that the true legacy of a Christian should be measured by service, sacrifice and impact on humanity rather than material possessions.
