Governor Caleb Mutfwang of Plateau State has warned that his administration would not condone attacks or acts of violence against any community under any guise, including reprisals arising from allegations of any kind.
He gave the warning in a statewide broadcast to mark his third year in office, saying his administration would move against cattle rustling and poisoning of livestock, willful destruction of crops, harmful grazing practices like grazing at night and underage herders or any act capable of threatening peace and security.
According to him, anyone found culpable of violating the law would be dealt with.
He reiterated the firm position of his administration on the enforcement of the ban on motorcycle operation within Jos–Bukuru metropolis.
“These measures were introduced in the best interest of public safety, environmental protection, peaceful coexistence and protection of the rights and dignity of our people.
“Government remains open and willing to listen to all genuine grievances and complaints, and every legitimate concern brought forward through lawful means will receive the attention and consideration it deserves,” he said.
Mutfwang said the state was rising again, adding that hope was being restored, confidence in governance was gradually returning and the dream of a peaceful, united, secure and prosperous Plateau was becoming a visible reality.
“Indeed, the Plateau of our dreams is possible, and together, we will continue to build a state that future generations will be proud to inherit,” he added.
The governor said the last three years had tested the state in many profound ways, beginning with legal distractions aimed at undermining the mandate freely and overwhelmingly given by the people.
He explained that his administration endured the painful reality of persistent attacks on innocent communities, resulting in the loss of lives, displacement of families, deep emotional and economic hardship.
