The Kwankwasiyya Movement has commended former senators Rufa’i Sani Hanga and Kabiru Ibrahim Gaya for accepting the outcome of its Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) consensus arrangement ahead of the 2027 general elections, describing their conduct as a show of political maturity and loyalty.

In a statement issued on Saturday by its spokesperson, Hon. Habibu Mohammed, the movement said the decision of both politicians to respect the consensus process had strengthened unity within its ranks and reinforced its core political principles.

According to the statement, Hanga stepped down in support of former Kano State Deputy Governor, Nasiru Gawuna, who emerged as the consensus candidate for Kano Central Senatorial District.

It also noted that Gaya accepted the decision to field former President of the Nigerian Association of Road Transport Owners, Nasir Batayya, as the movement’s candidate for Kano South Senatorial District.

“Their sacrifices and commitment to the collective interest of the movement represent the highest ideals of political maturity and loyalty,” the statement read.

The group also praised other aspirants across governorship, senatorial, House of Representatives and State Assembly positions who either stepped aside or accepted the outcome of the consensus process.

It said their actions reflected the discipline and ideological consistency that have long defined the Kwankwasiyya Movement.

The movement further congratulated all candidates who emerged through the exercise, especially its governorship candidate, Abdulsalam Gwarzo, describing his emergence as a reflection of the confidence placed in him by the leadership and members.

It urged all candidates to run issue-based campaigns and uphold values of humility, discipline, integrity, accountability and service to the people.

Kwankwasiyya also called on members and supporters to remain united ahead of the elections, stressing that the spirit of sacrifice demonstrated during the consensus process should guide preparations for victory in Kano State.
