The Chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), Prof. Joash Amupitan, SAN, has led a delegation of Nigerian election officials on a study visit to key electoral institutions in South Korea as part of efforts to deepen knowledge of election administration and technology.

The visit was part of activities lined up for the International Election Observation Programme (IEOP) for the Republic of Korea’s Nationwide Simultaneous Local Elections.

This was made known by INEC in a post shared on its verified Facebook page on Tuesday.

The delegation visited the South Korean National Election Commission (NEC) headquarters and the Korean Civic Education Institute (KOCIE) on Monday.

According to INEC, the visit was aimed at gaining insights into the country’s electoral system and election administration processes.

“The visit provided an opportunity for engagement on the evolution of the Korean electoral system, with particular focus on the electoral process, facilities and technology deployed in election administration,” the commission said.

INEC added that officials of the NEC and KOCIE “made presentations on the development of the Korean electoral system and shared insights into the use of technology and institutional facilities in the management of elections.”
