Galatasaray’s star striker Victor Osimhen has moved quickly to silence speculation about his future at the Turkish club, following comments from Nigeria head coach Eric Chelle that hinted at a possible summer move.

Chelle had suggested that Osimhen’s absence from Nigeria’s upcoming friendlies against Poland and Portugal could be linked to the forward being “maybe trying to change clubs.” The remark was later clarified by the Super Eagles media team, but not before it triggered widespread exit rumours.

Taking to Instagram, Osimhen set the record straight. He revealed that he had spoken directly with Chelle, who insisted his words had been twisted.

“Unfortunately, his words have been taken out of context and blown out of proportion,” Osimhen wrote. “He has great respect for Galatasaray, follows most of our games and never intended to create any controversy.”

The 27-year-old added that he values his national team duties and looks forward to working with Chelle, whom he called “a great coach.” He urged fans and media to disregard the speculation.

Despite the denial, transfer gossip has swirled around Osimhen after another stellar season. He bagged 15 league goals and five assists in 22 matches to help Galatasaray clinch another title, plus seven goals and three assists in the Champions League as the club reached the round of 16.

Recent reports link him with Manchester United, claiming he tops their five-man shortlist of striking targets for the summer window. However, sources close to the player suggest he would only consider leaving if Galatasaray decide to sell.

The Turkish champions are said to value Osimhen at €150 million — double the €75 million they paid Napoli for him last summer.
