NOG Energy Forum Set To Debate Gas Monetisation, Decarbonisation

The 2026 edition of NOG Energy Week is set to convene a cross-section of the global energy community to interrogate the technology and operational questions reshaping oil, gas and power production.

Organisers say the conference’s continuing professional development-accredited technical seminar will bring together engineers, procurement specialists, researchers, academics and senior policymakers for structured dialogue on how emerging tools and systems can resolve persistent inefficiencies across the sector.

The programme has been assembled against a backdrop of acute pressure on energy producers — geopolitical friction, fragile supply chains, and mounting investor expectations around output optimisation have all combined to accelerate demand for practical, deployable solutions rather than theoretical frameworks.

“Over 700 technical abstracts were submitted from different parts of the world, covering geoscience, engineering, digital technologies, energy markets and sustainability — a figure organisers say reflects the breadth of global appetite for solutions-focused dialogue,” the organisers said in a statement.

The technical seminar’s thematic architecture reflects the sector’s current preoccupations. Artificial intelligence applications in reservoir and production optimisation will feature alongside digital transformation strategies, asset integrity management frameworks and advances in integrated operational systems.

Engineering innovation and project delivery disciplines are also included, signalling a deliberate effort to balance near-term operational gains with longer-term structural improvements.

Investment trends, the stewardship of mature oil and gas fields and human capital development round out a programme that also addresses health, safety, security and environment — known in the industry as HSSE — as well as operational efficiency and project management disciplines.

Gas development and monetisation will occupy a prominent share of the conference, with liquefied natural gas technologies, floating LNG infrastructure and flare gas utilisation all scheduled for detailed examination.

The underlying policy question — how Nigeria and comparable resource-rich nations can convert stranded gas assets into commercially productive energy sources — is expected to generate some of the seminar’s most pointed exchanges.

Nigeria’s pursuit of decentralised power architecture will also receive attention, with modular energy solutions and localised manufacturing models positioned as viable pathways for improving electricity delivery and broadening industrial capacity.

The inclusion of decarbonisation strategies alongside traditional upstream and midstream topics reflects the event’s effort to situate Nigeria’s energy priorities within wider global emissions-reduction commitments.

Beyond domestic concerns, the organisers brag that the forum is positioned as a platform for connecting Nigerian industry dynamics with continental African and international market developments.
