Popular Nollywood actress and film producer, Mary Remmy Njoku, has urged Africans to combine their religious faith with practical actions to solve the continent’s challenges.
In a post shared on her Instagram page, the actress stated that physical problems require physical solutions. She explained that while prayer is important for guidance, strength, and wisdom, issues such as poor infrastructure, insecurity, and poor healthcare can only be solved through proper planning and hard work.
Using food as an example, Njoku pointed out that meals do not simply appear on a plate through prayer alone, as someone still has to farm, harvest, and cook the food. She cautioned people against substituting prayers for the real work needed to develop society.
“You cannot bind and cast away bad roads. You cannot rebuke a failing healthcare system into working. You cannot pray away the bandits who are terrorising our lives.”
According to the filmmaker, faith and action are meant to work together, and national progress will only occur when citizens demand accountability and take deliberate steps to improve their environment.
