The National Women Leader of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Dr. Mary Alile Idele, has said the newly inaugurated Tinubu Torchbearers (TTB) movement will serve as a platform for grassroots mobilisation, advocacy, voter education and citizen engagement in support of President Bola Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda.

Speaking at the inauguration of the movement at the State House Banquet Hall in Abuja, Alile described the initiative as a major step towards strengthening grassroots participation and consolidating support for the administration.

According to her, the Tinubu Torchbearers represents a grassroots-driven movement with structures across the 774 local government areas of the country.

“The TTB represents a grassroots-driven movement designed to serve as a dynamic vehicle for mobilization, a dynamic vehicle for advocacy, a dynamic vehicle for voter education and citizen engagement in support of the Renewed Hope Agenda of Mr President,” she said.

Alile noted that the nationwide structure of the organisation would provide a formidable platform for communicating government achievements and encouraging greater citizen participation.

She commended President Tinubu for what she described as his courageous leadership in addressing longstanding national challenges through economic reforms, infrastructure development, social investments, agricultural support and enhanced security initiatives.

The APC National Women Leader also praised the First Lady, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, for the impact of the Renewed Hope Initiative, saying women, youths, persons with disabilities and vulnerable groups had benefited from its empowerment programmes, educational support, healthcare interventions and economic opportunities.

“The Renewed Hope Initiative has become a beacon of compassion and practical support, bringing government closer to the people and demonstrating that leadership is ultimately about service to humanity,” she stated.

She urged women members of the party to take the message of the Renewed Hope Agenda to their homes, wards, polling units and communities.

“We are mothers, we are nurturers, we are mobilizers, we are community builders, we are agents of change. Let us take the message to every nook and cranny of our nation. Let us engage our neighbours, support our communities, enlighten our citizens and strengthen our grassroots,” she said.

Also speaking, the Minister of Women Affairs, Hajiya Imaan Sulaiman-Ibrahim, said the Tinubu administration had moved beyond promises to delivering measurable and systemic change for women, children and families.

She highlighted initiatives undertaken by the ministry, including the review of national child protection policies, the development of action plans aimed at ending child marriage and violence against children, as well as women-focused economic empowerment programmes.

The minister disclosed that President Tinubu had approved a universal cash grant initiative for children, which is currently undergoing technical design and would be implemented in collaboration with state governments, UNICEF and other development partners.

She also pointed to the administration’s affirmative procurement policy aimed at giving women-owned businesses greater access to government contracts, describing it as a landmark step towards women’s economic inclusion.

Representing APC National Chairman, Professor Nentawe Yilwatda, the party’s Deputy National Chairman (South), Dr. Benjamin Nwoye, said the Tinubu Torchbearers initiative was timely and aligned with the aspirations of Nigerians who believe in the President’s reform agenda.

According to him, the movement would provide a strong platform for grassroots mobilisation, women empowerment, national unity and citizen engagement while sustaining support for the administration’s policies and programmes.

He expressed confidence that Nigerians would continue to support President Tinubu in order to consolidate the gains of the Renewed Hope Agenda and advance national development.
