Popular Nigerian indigenous rapper, Sodiq Abubakar Yusuf, known as CDQ, has claimed that upcoming musicians must belong to a particular gang or cult group to successfully advance their careers in the Nigerian music industry.

Speaking during a recent interview with content creator, JBrandy, the singer state that the entertainment industry has become heavily fractionalized, making it difficult for independent artists to survive.

According to the rapper, artists without affiliations with these influential industry groups or cults often spend huge sums on music promotion without achieving any success or financial returns.

“You have to belong to a particular gang or cult before anybody could help you in the music industry.”

He further said that the few artists who managed to achieve mainstream success in the industry without joining any cult groups or associations were simply lucky.

“So, if you don’t belong to this particular gang, or this particular group, or this particular cult or whatever, you might probably spend a lot and not see anything in return.”
