The Nigeria Revenue Service (NRS) on Thursday presented 100 copies of newly enacted tax legislations to the Kano State Internal Revenue Service (KIRS), in a move aimed at boosting tax awareness, compliance, and effective administration across the state.

The presentation, carried out by a delegation from the Government Business Office of the NRS in Kano, marks part of the agency’s nationwide effort to strengthen collaboration with state revenue boards and institutions of higher learning.

The documents contain the comprehensive legal framework guiding tax administration in Nigeria, including provisions on the taxation of various income streams, following the recent reforms introduced by the Federal Government.

Speaking at the event, leader of the delegation, Muhammad Usman, said the initiative reflects NRS’s commitment to equipping state agencies with up-to-date tax laws.

“This will strengthen capacity building, enhance compliance, and promote effective tax administration nationwide,” Usman said.

In her remarks, the Executive Director, Corporate Services of KIRS, Hajiya Fatima Ahmad, described the gesture as timely and strategic.

She noted that access to the new legislations would enable revenue officers and stakeholders to better understand the reformed tax system, thereby improving efficiency in revenue collection.

According to her, the distribution forms part of ongoing efforts to deepen stakeholders’ knowledge of Nigeria’s evolving tax regime and ensure smoother operations at both federal and state levels.

Ahmad added that the materials would also serve as reference documents for training programmes, workshops, and academic research, thereby bridging knowledge gaps in tax administration.(NAN)
