Abia State All Progressives Congress (APC) chieftain, Sen. Emma Nwaka, has said that the Abia State Charter of Equity supports Governor Alex Otti’s re-election bid, noting that his position as a leader from Abia Central aligns with the zoning arrangement in the state.

Nwaka, who is also a founding member and former Abia State chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), stated this while speaking with journalists in Umuahia, the state capital.

According to him, beyond political considerations, Governor Otti’s performance in office has been exceptional and stands out compared to previous administrations in the state.

He said the governor’s achievements within a short period in office had transformed governance in Abia State, particularly in infrastructure development, resource management, and service delivery.

“This is my stand. My position is informed by my sincere assessment of the governor’s performance; the visible transformation taking place across the state.

“He has demonstrated uncommon commitment to infrastructure development, prudent management of resources, and the delivery of people-oriented projects that have positively impacted the lives of Abians,” he said.

Despite his party affiliation, Nwaka said it was necessary for him to acknowledge what he described as the governor’s “visible impact” in governance, adding that performance should remain a key factor in political decisions.

He also maintained that he remained committed to the APC and to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, whom he said deserved a second term based on ongoing economic reforms.

“At the federal level, I am working for the re-election of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu,” he said.

Nwaka argued that the president inherited a difficult economic situation but had taken bold steps to stabilize governance and reposition the economy.

“Any person conversant with the almost comatose state of the economy of Nigeria and the inertia that characterized governance prior to his assumption of office will agree that the President deserves a second term,” he added.

He expressed optimism that the long-term benefits of the current economic reforms would soon begin to positively impact Nigerians across all sectors.

“I believe that before long, the trickle-down effect of his bold and courageous economic reforms will kick in and shall begin to be felt by the generality of Nigerians,” Nwaka stated.
