American rap artist Isis Gaston, popularly known as Ice Spice, has been ordered by a court to sit for a deposition in an ongoing legal battle with a wig company.

According to new court documents obtained by TMZ, the rapper is scheduled to answer questions under oath in Manhattan, New York, this September. The legal dispute began last year when a company called Thee Bella Brand LLC sued the music star over 25 custom-made wigs. The company claims that the artist agreed to buy the items for approximately $20,000 but failed to pay. They are seeking over $400,000 in damages, claiming the rapper also criticised them on social media, which they say hurt their business.

In her official court response, Ice Spice’s defence counsel strongly denied the allegations of coordinated harm. Her lawyers argued that the case is a straightforward disagreement over an unpaid commercial invoice and rejected the claims of wider reputational damage, stating there is no evidence linking the rapper’s social media activity to the company’s financial losses.

The court has now moved the case into a more serious evidentiary stage, ordering two other witnesses to be questioned alongside the rapper. The judge also set a January 2027 deadline for both parties to complete gathering evidence and scheduled a settlement conference for later this year to see if the dispute can be resolved before a full trial.
