World No. 1 Nelly Korda captured her first U.S. Women’s Open title holding off a fierce charge from England’s Charley Hull to prevail by a single stroke.

The American star delivered under pressure, sinking a crucial birdie on the 17th hole en route to a two-under-par 69. That left her at eight under overall at Riviera Country Club in Los Angeles—just enough to fend off Hull’s late surge.

At 27, Korda now has four major championships to her name. The victory also marks her second straight win of the season, following her successful title defense at the Chevron Championship in April.

Hull, who began the final round seven shots off the lead, turned in a spectacular performance over the weekend. After firing a 65 on Saturday, she backed it up with a four-under 67 on Sunday—matching the lowest 36-hole total in U.S. Women’s Open history. She finished at seven under.

The runner-up finish adds to a growing list of near-misses for Hull. It’s her fifth silver medal at a major, with four of those coming since the start of 2023 and two in her last three tournaments.

Hull shared second place with Mexico’s Gaby Lopez. South Korea’s In-Gee Chun was one stroke further back, while Sei-Young Kim—who had been tied with Korda atop the leaderboard after three rounds—ended the week at five under.

Korda sealed the win in dramatic fashion on the 18th green, calmly stroking a 34-inch par putt that circled the back lip before tumbling into the cup.
