The West African Examinations Council (WAEC), Nigeria, has attributed the disruptions recorded in the ongoing 2026 West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE) to a combination of security, logistical and operational challenges.

The Council said the difficulties affected the smooth conduct of the examination in some locations across the country.

WAEC explained that the challenges included security-related disruptions, logistical constraints, and operational setbacks encountered during the examination period.

It added that these factors collectively contributed to delays and irregularities reported in parts of the ongoing examination exercise.

The Council reiterated its commitment to ensuring the integrity and smooth administration of the WASSCE, despite the challenges experienced.
