Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, said President Bola Tinubu will begin the commissioning of major completed infrastructure projects across Abuja from Tuesday, June 9, as part of activities marking the President’s third anniversary in office.

Wike disclosed this on Monday after inspecting several project sites, expressing satisfaction with the quality and timely delivery of the works by contractors.

According to him, the commissioning programme will commence with the OSEX Road, followed by the N5 Road in Life Camp on Wednesday, June 10, and the Airport–Kuje Road on Thursday, June 11.

“These three projects are 100 percent complete and ready for commissioning. What is important to us is that we have been able to achieve the timeline, and I commend the various contractors involved, CGC, Arab Contractors and Julius Berger, for keeping to their commitments,” Wike said.

He added that on Friday, June 12, the President will also commission newly completed residences for Justices of the Court of Appeal, executed by a local contractor.

Wike said residents had expressed satisfaction with the completed projects, noting that public interest in the commissioning underscored the importance of infrastructure delivery in the FCT.

Responding to concerns over delays in putting some previously commissioned facilities into full operation, including the bus terminal, the minister said government processes and bureaucracy were responsible.

“Government process is not easy. Bureaucracy is involved. Once you have achieved that, just be patient. We are proud of what we are doing, and we owe no apologies,” he said.

He explained that private operators had been engaged to manage some facilities and were currently acquiring buses and taxis to ensure full operations.

On presidential visits to area councils, Wike confirmed that such engagements were part of the anniversary programme but declined to disclose specific locations for security reasons.

“Very much. But for security reasons, we won’t disclose which councils he will visit. The important thing is that he will visit, and projects have been distributed among key leaders in the administration,” he said.

Wike attributed the progress in FCT infrastructure delivery to President Tinubu’s leadership and support, adding that the administration was committed to completing inherited and ongoing projects.

He stressed that governance should be judged not only by initiating projects but by ensuring their timely completion and delivery for public use.
