Summit Spotlights 131 Women Transforming Education

The Centre for Educational Empowerment and Orientation (CEEO Nigeria), in collaboration with the National Council of Women Societies (NCWS) is set to spotlight 131 women education entrepreneurs across the country.

The Executive Director CEEO, Davidcrown Oyebisi, said this while briefing newsmen on the 2026 Women-Led Education and Social Enterprise Impact Summit scheduled for June 10, 2026 by 10 am at Merit House, Abuja.

According to him, the summit is themed: “Empowering Women Social Entrepreneurs in Basic and Senior Secondary Education: Driving Policy Influence, Access to Finance and Institutional Support.”

Oyebisi said the conference was focusing on recognising women who had invested personal resources, expertise and passion to build and sustain schools in low-income and underserved communities.

“Princess Edna D. D. Azura, National President of NCWS, Nigeria, will chair the summit while Dr Mariya Bunkure,  Minister of State for the Federal Capital Territory, will be a Special Guest of Honour.

“Senator Ireti Kingibe and Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan, with  Dr Adedayo Laniyi, Director General of the Maryam Babangida National Centre for Women Development are expected guest of honours.”

He emphasised that investing in women-led education was investing in the nation’s most vulnerable learners.

“The event is designed to document how women-led investment is expanding access to quality education for thousands of Nigerian children.”

Oyebisi said the focus of the summit was to attract massive investment in the future of education by supporting women-led schools serving some of the nation’s most vulnerable learners.

According to him, the summit will work to build strategic partnerships for sustainable educational transformation.

He said that the summit would also create a platform for governments, development agencies, financial institutions, foundations, corporate organisations and philanthropists to invest in women-led schools serving vulnerable learners.

“The summit is a national advocacy and empowerment platform designed to recognize, celebrate, and support women who are investing their resources, expertise, and passion in providing quality education and social impact services, particularly within low-income and underserved communities across Nigeria.

“A major highlight of the event will be the unveiling of a landmark 200-page Compendium containing 131 inspiring stories of women social entrepreneurs in basic and senior secondary education.

“The publication documents the journeys, achievements, challenges, innovations, and contributions of women-led schools that continue to expand educational opportunities for thousands of Nigerian children.”

He stated that the compendium was intended to make visible the scale of women investment that often goes unrecorded in national education statistics.
