Federal High Court To Begin 2026 Annual Vacation July 27

The Federal High Court of Nigeria will commence its 2026 annual vacation on July 27, the Chief Judge of the court, Justice John Tsoho, has announced.

The vacation is in line with the provisions of Order 46, Rule 4(d) of the Federal High Court (Civil Procedure) Rules 2019.

According to a statement issued by the Director of Information of the Court, Dr Catherine Oby Christopher, on behalf of the Chief Judge, the vacation will begin on Monday, July 27, 2026, and end on Friday, September 11, 2026.

The court said the annual break is intended to allow judges to rest and prepare for the demands of the new legal year.

However, the statement noted that judicial services will still be available during the period through designated vacation courts to handle urgent matters.

It explained that the Abuja, Lagos, Port Harcourt and Enugu Judicial Divisions will remain operational for cases requiring immediate attention.

Members of the public and legal practitioners were advised to file and pursue only urgent matters at the vacation courts closest to them.

The designated vacation judges include Justices Joyce Abdulmalik and Obiora Egwuatu for the Abuja Division.

For Lagos Division, the judges are Justices Akintayo Aluko and Ogazi F. Nkemakonam, while Justices P. M. Ayua and A. T. Mohammed will handle the Port Harcourt Division.

The newly created Enugu Division will have Justices F. O. G. Ogunbanjo and M. T. Segun-Bello serving as vacation judges.
